Bassist with Blue Radio and Ultimate Urban ultimateurbantribute.com I recently cut back my bass collection down to only those I absolutely love enough to gig with. At the end of the month-long purge, I had sold 3, traded one for another, and traded a maple neck for a rosewood one. Then after having four different sound guys this summer mention the improved tone of my main bass – the sunburst one – over the others,…
Hey Smitty! – I had to send ya another email after giving these PUPs a good 1st run. Wow man, these things are perfection for me. I won’t go into every little thing but what stands out most for me is everything is so nicely articulated on all 3 pickups. The neck is the perfect balance of that bell tone with just enough brightness that I’ve wanted for a while. I use 500k pots in…
Just got my Jazzmaster back from the shop! Sounds Awesome! I especially love the neck pick-up sound. Both pick-ups have a nice round sound, lots of clarity, and to my ears (coming out of the 15″ speaker of my Fender Excelsior Pro) the bridge pick-up has a real mid-range honk that is very different from the standard JM singles. Very nicely balanced set. I couldn’t be happier. Thanks so much!
Hey Smitty, Just passing along a trio of pics of my completed Baritone with your MJS Stacked Tele Bridge and MJS Firebird Hum in ‘tron casing. I expect delivery within the week (maybe longer if subzero temps persist) and will pass along my impression of the pups on arrival. I have it on good authority that they absolutely smoke! Meanwhile, it should be on the Cody Guitars website within the next day or two.
I got the pickups installed they sound great, a huge improvement over the Filtertrons for my current needs. Your advice in the selection process was spot on. Thanks again, they really give me that fuller sound I was looking for!
Oh my, Smitty… you build beautiful things! Not only do my new Rotaries look great, they also sound amazing! They’re powerful, very sensitive to picking dynamics and they have punch and note definition without the woof… this is especially true with the neck pickup. Punch and clarity, punch and clarity. Oh, man! This guitar will definitely be featured in my next recording!
