“Congratulations Smitty!  You hit a home run with this pickup for my new Keith Six string.  It is everything I imagined and hoped for as I tried to put the sound in my mind into words when we talked.  I wanted great extension at both ends, full tones but with transparency.  Your pickup delivers exactly that with even response across all six strings.  In Martin’s words the bass has an “open, strong voice”.  The other thing Martin noted, and I agree, is that the combination of a hard ash neck and your pickup delivers an authoritative B string tone, even though the scale length on that string is just 33 inches from bridge saddle to zero fret.

And I’m getting this great tone without any fancy EQ or effects.  You may recall that this bass has only a volume pot on board (I haven’t yet installed a treble bleed circuit on it).  I’m running into my Effectrode compressor with a bit of gain added and then straight into the treble and bass James-style tone stack on my Ampeg B15 clone.
